And So Begins Day 5

Ah sun!  We are so happy to see you this morning for our trip to San Luis Obispo!

After leaving the car show on Day 3 we hit rain...a lot of it.  The riders did amazingly well - spirits stayed high even though the ride day was extremely long.  Wendy was a rock star!  It's too bad it was so rainy and the clouds so low because the Oregon Coast is spectacular.  Tough to get pictures from a moving rig, but between the scenery and watching for our team, we get a good one now and then.

We finally arrived in Crescent City just before 9pm which made for a 12 hour day.  As we closed down the lounge (the only place we could get dinner after everyone warmed up with their showers) we decided that we would need an early morning to ensure we got to the Bay Area on time for our event with our US beneficiary The Breast Cancer Fund at Southern Pacific Smokehouse in Novato.  How early?  Departure at 6am on Monday morning (Day 4)

The ride south along Hwy 101 was amazing as we cruised through the statuesque redwoods.
We made much better time today (the early start helped) and we arrived earlier than expected for our event in the Bay Area of San Francisco.  The Southern Pacific Smokehouse in Novato (north of the city) hosted us and 107.7 The Bone radio was broadcasting live from 3 - 7pm from our event room and interviewed Dr T - our designated spokesperson for the day.  We finally had the chance to meet Julie Homan from The Breast Cancer Fund (our US beneficiary) and the SP Smokehouse put on an amazing spread for us.  It really was the perfect venue for us - a great live music room for our event and the rest of the restaurant sported lighting fixtures and decor elements made from bike parts.   They event let us put the game on in the room - though not with the result we had hoped for.

Day 5 we woke up to sunshine!  The rig and the riders parted ways for the day as there was no way the RV-trailer combo could make the turns on the coastal highway.  The riders had a good day taking their time down the coast and meeting people - and some of the local wildlife.
We all arrived to a very welcome sight - our hotel was right above the beach and the it couldn't have been a better day.
